THE MESSENGER | NOVEMBER 2026

The themes of unity and service run through the November Messenger. We read that Christians follow Christ the King – a king whose nature is self-giving love and who defined greatness in terms of service, rather than the abusers of power and wealth we observe in positions of authority today. Pope Leo asks us to pray that wealth may be put at the service of the common good and solidarity of those who have less;  Shane Daly SJ, Jesuit Provincial, writes that Jesus’ actions and words challenge the Old Testament world of ‘an eye for an eye’ – to punish rather than forgive. We read that being present with another and accompanying them through suffering is one of the most profound expressions of love we can offer. And we learn that God is with us when we seek out and engage with things that unite us rather than focus on the divisions that can cause us harm.

The November Messenger gives us plenty to reflect upon!

Calendars are a very important component of our lives: we all reference at least one of either seasonal, personal, work calendars during the year. This month, RER: LINK looks at the Liturgical Calendar, containing all the feasts and moments of solemnity for the Church.

Our RE:LINK resource for Junior Certificate Religion Studies  is written by RE teacher, Patrick Byrne
