The theme of Hospitality filters through many of the articles in the March Messenger. St Patrick’s Day is celebrated in music, song and sharing across the world – an opportunity to extend a deep, heart-centred welcome and hospitality to others coming to our shores; the synodality movement started by Pope Francis encourages the Church to become ‘a field hospital at the service of a wounded society’; we read about two centres, the Belfast Jesuit Centre for Spirituality and the Spiritan An Tobar Retreat House,  which have significant engagement with their local communities; and we learn about ‘Towards Peace’, a support service for those who have suffered in a Church environment.

Elsewhere, Peter McVerry SJ queries the commitment of local authorities to solving the housing crisis;  recently-deceased Fr Micheál MacGréil writes about the pilgrimage site at Máméan in Co Galway; Messenger editor Donal Neary SJ summarises the varied life and legacy of Jesuit photographer Fr Francis Browne and Brendan Comerford SJ completes  his piece on Mother Mary Martin, foundress of the Medical Missionaries of Mary.
