THE SACRED HEART MESSENGER

€2.00

JUNE 2022

The focus is on families in the June Messenger, both the nuclear family in which we grow up and the wider human family of which we are all a member. For us to flourish, both should be inclusive, loving and supportive. In the former, in all their diversity, we learn about forgiveness, trust and love; the latter brings us in contact with God through our interactions with others, even those from whom we would like to distance ourselves. We read that our Christian identity includes prayer – a personal conversation directly with God – and also an acceptance, a reaching out, to others in our community, particularly the vulnerable and those in need.

We note two examples of living the Gospel message: the pioneering work in education over 100 years by the Irish Loreto Sisters in East Africa and the life-saving work of the Jesuit Refugee Service in Syria.  And as well as our regular features, we include the Sacred Heart Novena, which runs from 16th – 24 June, the Feast of the Sacred Heart.
