JUNE 2020

NOTE:
The June Messenger contains a pull-out supplement of the 2020 Sacred Heart Novena. It is also available elsewhere on this website for FREE download. The Novena will not be published as a separate flyer this year.

The Pope’s prayer for June is for those suffering to find consolation and comfort. Although our individual experiences over the past several weeks have varied, many have faced tough times in one way or another. Brian Grogan SJ writes that this awareness of others’ suffering can indeed bond us not just to those we love but to the wider community and help us find hope and meaning. Elsewhere, An Post have honoured an Irish Jesuit who has spent his sixty-five years of ministry working on the development of education in Zambia: Michael J Kelly SJ is featured on a stamp issued in February 2020. And we learn some of the life story of Fr Ragheed Ganni, well-remembered for his work in Ireland, who was murdered shortly after his return to Iraq.

Our cookery section offers an adventurous yet simple Pork Thai Curry and sumptuous Strawberry Cheesecake, plus all our regular articles on gardening, crossword, prayer, young readers pages including our Art masterpiece, Fish and Eucharistic Bread, which reminds us of the miracle of the loaves and fishes.
