This third and final book, brings the reader to the year 1991 when the Jesuits handed the property of Tullabeg over to its new owners and vacated the parish of Rahan for good.
The three books on Tullabeg tell the history of the house for the century and three quarters during which the Jesuits lived and worked there. The only visible evidence of a Jesuit presence that survives is the community cemetery. It contains the remains of 42 Jesuits and one lay man, Pat Corcoran, who had been the college chef. A stone slab was placed there on which was inscribed the names of 8 Jesuits who died before the cemetery was opened in 1874 and who had been buried in the old Rahan Graveyard. |
