Fr Kevin Laheen is a native of Dublin whose family first arrived in the capital in 1790. He was educated in Presentation College, Bray, and also at Belvedere College. He joined the Society of Jesus in 1938 and completed his third level studies in U.C.D.. He taught in Jesuit Colleges for 11 years and during the following 40 years his mission and retreat work brought him to America, England, Scotland, Wales, France and Italy. He has visited the Holy Land on over 30 occasions lecturing to small specially selected groups on the life of Christ and the land of the Gospels. He is a Knight of the Soverign Order of Galilee and a Knight Commander of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jersulaem.


He was awarded the Bronze Medallion of the Ministry of Tourism of Israel for his work there. In recent years he has been engaged in writing and research work. His fifth book, The Way of the Cross, illustrated by Evie Hone, is now in its second edition. Tullabeg, the subject of this present book, was the very first of very few houses in Ireland built from their foundations by Jesuits. Fr Laheen lived in Tullabeg for many years and his book covers the early period of the work of the Jesuits there.
